SCOTLAND’S SPECIALITY FOOD SHOW BOOKINGS ARE UP
02/11/2011Taking place at the SECC in Glasgow from 22-24th January 2012, Scotland’s Speciality Food Show will have about 120 exhibitors in total and attracts about 1000 food retailers and buyers. Being run in conjunction with Scotland’s Trade Show it also offers the opportunity for exhibitors to see gift retailers, many of whom sell food products as well as gifts.
The range of food exhibitors is excellent with some new companies, such as Ayr chocolate producers Chocolati, the Fine Cheese Company, South American food importer Soods Fine Foods, Campbell’s Fudge from Biggar and Yum Yum Tree Fudge from Suffolk.
With January traditionally being a quieter time for food retailing, buyers have the time to browse new products, hence the importance of this Show. The Show is also a perfect opportunity for producers to pick up Scottish food distributors.
With many small stands Scotland’s Speciality Food Show caters well for small, new producers who want to make an impression in the trade market. Equally established brands such as Walkers Shortbread, Mackies of Scotland, Edinburgh Tea & Coffee and Ross’s of Edinburgh always maintain a large presence at the Show and become a magnet for retailers.
Mark Saunders from Springboard Events who organises the Show says: “Hosting Scotland’s Trade Fair and Scotland’s Speciality Food Show together allows visitors crossover between the two markets. Many retailers stock both gifts and food so exhibitors in both shows benefit hugely from this combined show. In total some 5000 exhibitors will visit the Shows making them a key date in the independent gift and food retailing calendar.”
